Taking a hot shower
by Richard Brown
Hygiene and sanitation are essential to healthy survival strategies. One difficult area of concern is bathing. Cold water bathing is better than nothing, but Hot water bathing can be be very comforting during stressful survival challenges. There are several ideas, solar bags, solar showers, etc. Probably the easist soulution is a water hose. Yep 200, 300 or 400 feet of the largest diameter BLACK water hose you can buy. Fill it with water and in 10 to 15 minutes in the sun you have a lot of hot water. Use the hose nozzle much like one would use a shower wand or nozzle. Get wet, soap up, rinse off. The great part is that the hot water recovery time is very short. This hot water source can save time and resources in food preparation also. Be prepared not to have city water pressure. One should have a really large water capture system perhaps with a solar pump for pressure, or a mechanical means of creating pressure. Water is so important for so many things in a survival scenario that one should always start with water preparation/storage planning. Your best chance of survival is to plan on and to be prepared to shelter in place. Water capture, gardening, are very good basic planning strategies. We are are on 4th annual garden and our garden improves every year. So, remember, in the order of importance, Water, Food, Shelter, Self Defense, Barter, Cash. Cash will have little or no value if there is nothing to buy. However, survival supplies and resources are abundantly available, and relativley speaking, very affordable right now.. pre disaster.. Are you preparing? Even an investment of just a few hundred dollars a month is better than doing nothing. Any investment in survival planning will return significant benefits if the bottom ever drops out. Grocery stores and gas stations will be the most dangerous places on earth for 6 hours after a disaster strikes. Upon hearing about an impending or occuring catastrophic disaster you and your families first thought should be... " I have to get home" If your first thought is.. |
