First aid knowledge will be extremely valuable in a survival situation

While many situations necessitate the need for this type of wilderness survival first aid, or even combat surgery training for those fighting overseas, some regular everyday jobs require training for employment. The lifeguard at your community pool should be trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and simple first aid. Police officers, fire fighters, and several different government-employed positions demand the same training, if not more.

cprThese people would do significantly better in a situation needing survival first aid. For anyone needing or wanting to be trained in CPR and/or first aid the Red Cross offers health and safety service courses, helping people achieve the proficiency of CPR, first aid, and even Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training. This kind of training is a benefit anywhere, especially for those who spend time away from the convenience of emergency response personnel.

Some properly trained individuals will now even go so far as to have special kits ready, not unlike the kits diabetics use in case of emergency. First aid kits, emergency dental kits, and even 72-hour survival kits are easy to make and last a long time with minimal cost.

Making these emergency survival kits is a regular practice among the Boy Scouts of America and even some tightly-knit religious communities. These groups also encourage all their members to have an advanced knowledge of survival first aid.

Better be trained and never need it, than need it and have no idea what to do

The bottom line is this: survival first aid is important. It is the willingness and preparedness to help someone or yourself when the professionals are out of reach. It can make a difference in whether someone lives or dies. It is easy to learn, easy to certify, and if a person is calm, easy to apply in almost any situation at almost any time.
