No Evacuation

No Evacuation

Not every can move to a survival retreat outside of the city

What do you do when evacuation is not an option? Of course, in some situations, such as in a Katrina, chances are you won’t have a choice. As we’ve seen in some recently released footage, when the police come knocking at your door, it’s not going to matter if you have food, water and a means of protecting yourself. When they tell you to leave, they will have no qualms about forcing you to leave. No evacuation will not be an option.

Perhaps you have responsibilities, such as sick parents, that prohibit you from leaving. If so, you’d better have a plan in place if no evacuation is possible.

Here’s just a brief list of things you would do well to have on hand:

Water – at least a gallon of water for each person. Since you are looking at staying in place, and probably don’t have enough room to store enough water to get you through any great length of time, and then consider a good water collection system and a good water filter. If you live in a high rise apartment, you can set up a rain collection system on the roof.

foodFood – Starting right now, begin buying canned foods, things that don’t necessarily have to be cooked; canned meats, beans, vegetables, etc. Canned goods that have a high water content will help hydrate you. Forget buying a lot of freezer foods, when TSHTF (the “stuff” hits the fan) one of the first things to go will be the electricity and with it your refrigeration.

Heat – if you have a fireplace in your home, then consider laying in a supply of wood. A barbeque grill outside on the patio or balcony will provide a way of cooking without too much worry about fire. Even a stock of sterno or tea light candles can supply enough heat to warm up a can of beans in an emergency.

In a no evacuation situation you would do well to have some means of protecting what’s yours and even hunting for some urban wildlife. For some that’s going to be a high-powered rifle, more for two-legged varmints, a shotgun for home protection, or a .22 rifle for rabbits and squirrels. You will find a number of online sites where you can get advice about the best survival rifle for a no evacuation scenario.

No evacuation from a metropolitan area can lead to urban survival which can be the very worst location in which to try to survive.
