Lady Trucker's Go Bag Ingredients

Now since I have been in all kinds of disasters and evacuated three times I kind of had a hint of the basic stuff, but an inquiring mind. So I just figured that if I had a picnic basket full of supplies in the car/truck with blankets pillows and water that I could just add when I figured what else I'd need.

Then I started to drive big rig. That's when I saw and helped so many that were not prepared for the road disasters. Extras of everything.

A make up bag had the travel toothbrush, comb, soap, toothpaste, clear nail polish, clippers, mirror, washcloth I had knitted, brush makeup set in plastic carrier, moisturizer, base makeup, mascara, colors, Q-tips, make up sponges, cinnamon ground in a small round tupperware case, baking soda in small sealed container, deodorant, shampoo, and scrubber for the scalp. The bag was 5 inches deep and seven inches long. Oh the pads that had remover already in them. and hand cream.

The other bag had the small vial of pain killer med which varied from truck stops stores as to the amount of the pills sold, like 6 or 8 of the tylenol, aspirin, vitamins in the plastic pack for the daily dose, tums that came in the small roll, and an assortment of bandages with the pre made pads fro cleaning wounds and the small roll of gauze and tape. This was in a 3x4 zippered case.

The log book, pen, calculator, pencils, trucker atlas, yellow note legal pad was in a case made for the purpose of carrying log books, and a book of rules for the ICC. This was as long as the purse so it fit into the center with the other two cases. Then I added a small bottle of dish soap so I could wash the clothes in the sink of the restrooms.

It also had:

A change of clothes and three changes of underwear and seven pairs of socks. A hand held CB radio and extra batteries, The mega light flashlight and extra batteries, and a small AM/FM radio with weather band and batteries. Then in the side pocket were the leather work gloves. In another make up bag was gloves, ear scarf and scarf. The company had us wearing the work ball cap, so it was on my head.

The purse had a side that the flap unzipped and there was the license and the company ID with the calling card. A set of prestamped envelopes addressed to the company, and then postcard stamped an address book, and notebook the size of a credit card. Since it was company business the company jacket which was lined and windbreaker type could be folded and strapped to the top.

The last outside pocket had my Bible and my handywork. I had a change purse in my pocket and a multi tool along with a high grade whistle on a key ring. And a pocket knife, swiss army knife. Oh a lighter.

This was the first grab and go bag I had. Since I no longer need the log books for work I have changed this up a bit. Of course there is a lot that you can't take with you on a plane anymore. And now there cellphones.

I also had a Tupperware lunch box with a thermos, plus a stock of cup-of-soup mixes, singles serving packets of cheese and crackers, trail mix, and oatmeal.
