DIY Solar Battery Charger

DIY Solar Battery Charger

A few simple steps to build a solar battery charger

solderwandTo build a do-it-yourself DIY solar battery charger you will need to solder the wire from back to front and front to back with three cells. You can wire the cells together for more amps (series) or for more volts (parallel).

You will have two wires on each side of the cell and you need to follow the solder lines that are marked on the cells. After you are finished soldering the three cells together using the back to front and front to back rotation, you now have to do the opposite on the other three, which will be front to back and back to front.

A DYIer will always find ways to make do in survival situations, and be a valuable addition to any community

You will build a solar battery charger for a one point five (1.5) array with three cells. If you connect the first set to the second set, you will have a three-volt array. You will also have a wire coming off the front side for the positive connection and a wire off the back for the negative connection.

wireNext you attach the battery holder and wires then connect the diode blocker to the negative wire that goes to the battery. If you have succeeded in building a workable solar battery charger, you should have three volts coming from your cells.

Does it Work? Test it out

The final additions to your solar battery charger are to place a piece of cardboard on the backside of the cell and use some duct tape to keep the cell from moving. Once this is done you are ready to test the cells to make sure they are working properly.

To test your cells, place one wire from your multi-meter on the top and the other on the bottom, you should read point five (.5) volts when sitting in the sun. You have now built a solar battery charger project without spending a lot of money.

This DIY solar battery charger is ideal for emergency power outages and disaster survival situations. You can even build a DIY solar battery charger small enough to fit in a backpack.
