Distill WaterDistilling water to create clean and safe drinking water
The basic process is to take the contaminated water and change it into
steam by boiling the water on a stove or over a fire or by any way your
circumstances allow. The steam must then be trapped and directed into
a different container.
As you might not have the best tools for this process, the easiest and most common way to distill water is to simply boil the water with a lid on top of the pot. As the steam collects on the lid of the pot, remove the lid and let the steam that has collected on the underside of the lid drip into some other container. The water that has been converted into steam is now clean and relatively free of any contaminants. If the amount of contaminated water that you have is limited, it would be advisable to use 2 lids for your pots. That way while you are letting the steam that was collected on the first lid to drip into a second container, the other lid would be collecting the steam from the water that is still boiling. This will ensure that you do not waste whatever limited amount of water you may have. When water is distilled you can feel somewhat assured that the distilled water that you have collected will be relatively free of most toxins and is drinkable at that point. Learning how to create your own distilled water will also ensure that you have a supply of distilled water when you want to make colloidal silver. If time is not of the essence, it is possible to distill water from the sun. |
